Our second visit to Pack’s Tavern. We love this place! Great destination if you are looking for very good food served in an historic building in Asheville. The food and atmosphere lives up to the glowing reviews. Our server was attentive, informative and knowledgeable about the menu, and he smiled which cannot always be said about staff these days. Always appreciated. We started with the spinach and artichoke dip. We all agreed, probably the best we have had outside of our house. Possibly a little heavy-handed on the mozzarella cheese, but overall all, creamy with the perfect amount of spinach and artichoke. For lunch we had the pulled pork sandwich, the pastrami Reuben, and the prime rib sandwich, all with a side of fries. The prime rib had a bit more fat than preferred, but overall the lunch was very good. Side note- my wife ordered the Orange Crush off the cocktail menu- very good! We would highly recommend stopping in for a drink or a bite. The ambience and food will not disappoint.

We came to Pack's for a late lunch (~2:45pm) Service was amazing! Jackie took our order, told us about the amazing drink specials, and had perfect timing with checking on us during our meal. We got the Chicken Philly and Fish Tacos. Fish Tacos were better than any costal town I've been to. Juicy, fresh fish with a phenomenal slaw. Paired well with a blueberry wheat beer. Chicken Philly had tender juicy chopped chicken with sweet, jammy caramelized onions, peppers, and plenty of melted cheese. Decently ask for some of that "Comeback Sauce" if you like your Philly sauce.

Cool place in a historic building. Stopped by as we were driving through on a road trip. Took a min to find the parking on side of building. Fried green tomatoes were the bomb note. Hubby loved the pot roast and I enjoyed the ribeye. Steak initially came out over-cooked but our server was quick to get another going and manager came to apologize. Very nice service and my new steak was delicious. Enjoyed the cheesecake for dessert. This place is 2 hours from home but we will definitely be back here. Beautiful location.

Packs Tavern is a huge restaurant but you are well taken care of. Special mention goes to our waiter: Jack. He took good care of us. Making use feel welcome. I got the Backyard BBQ buger. It was the BEST buger I have had in a long time. The meat was cook perfectly, the bacon waa crisp, but not overcooked. The BBQ sauce was tasty. And it came with a gluten-free bun!!!! A manager came over, after we ordered, and asked if the gluten-free was preference or an allergy. I let her know it was an allergy. She let me know that the fries I ordered were fried in oil where breaded stuff was also fried and was I okay with that. Thanks for that information! I switched to cold slaw as my side.

Wow! We’re just passing through and stopped here for a bite, and did we enjoy it. Really large dining area, indoor and out, and wonderful energy about the place. We loved the food .. the bison meatloaf, the mashed potatoes with the skins on, the gravy OMG. She had the brisket and mac and cheese, equally phenomenal, though it was quite rich and savory so I’d recommend something acidic on the side to help cut the flavor (the Mac and cheese was a little over cooked methinks as it was recooked after being baked in the skillet mixed with the brisket). Recommend the house special hot sauce as well! Great value. And the staff have a very genuine interest in your experience. Loved our visit.

Absolutely centrally located right on the Square and an enormous restaurant with tons of seating so you're likely to get a good table. The food was very good and we were in only for an afternoon snack. The soup was hot in the salad lettuce was cold and crisp. Next visit we may come back for a full dinner later in the evening.
